In the 1968 world championship, two American sprinters wearing PUMA Suede Classics raised their fists and bowed their heads in support of the Civil Rights movement. The gesture launched PUMA to the forefront of the culture, and soon the brand became as prominent among hip hop artists and B-boys as it was on the oval.

PUMA’s influence eventually spread to the hardwood when they created the first-ever signature basketball shoe for Walt Frazier. Now dubbed the PUMA Clyde, the sneaker has since acquired a legacy in streetwear as well as on the court.
